Led by the National Iraqi Women’s Committee in partnership with the Iraqi Health Access Organization and supported by the United Nations Population Fund – Iraq, was convened. The group serves as a national coordinating body to enhance efforts and activities of various sectors in the country to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.
The meeting was attended by governmental and non-governmental entities, UN agencies, and international and local organizations actively involved in women’s protection, emphasizing the importance of collaborative and effective partnerships among different sectors to provide protection and prevention of violence. Participants also exchanged interventions and discussions related to identifying gaps, capacity building needs, and methodologies for activating sub-groups in the upcoming period.
