“Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.”
#The_International_Day_of_Persons_with_Disability (IDPwD) is a day to recognize and celebrate the achievements of people with disabilities. This special day focuses on the need to create an inclusive society for all.
Iraq Health Access Organization, supported by UNFPA – Iraq, funding from Embassy of Finland in Baghdad – Suomen suurlähetystö Bagdad, and in partnership with The Iraqi Alliance of Disability (IADO), celebrated this day with young people with disabilities at Al-Hadbaa Youth Center.
The celebration included; two success stories of bullying and discrimination survivors, which they overcame by psychosocial support sessions and life-skills trainings provided at the Youth Center. Theater plays were also presented, on the subject of raising awareness on struggles of young people with disabilities.
Lastly, the celebration ended with a friendly basketball match between the Al-Hadbaa Youth Center and the Nineveh Paralympic team.
