Communicating your worries and pains to a doctor can be challenging for a deaf person, sometimes uncomfortable. To help alleviate these inconveniences, IHAO, with support from UNFPA-Iraq, and funding from Sweden and Australia, has published a sign language guide, the aim of which is to help healthcare providers communicate directly with women with impaired hearing, without the need for the presence of an interpreter or a caregiver and enables the women to talk more openly with the healthcare providers.
