Currently, menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is a public health concern, mainly for adolescent girls.
In efforts to spread awareness and deflect stigma on the topic, Iraq Health Access Organization conducted an online MHM training aimed at social workers to learn how to support young girls with their menstruation, their ability to manage hygiene during menstruation and reduce the risk of developing gynecological problems.
The training focused on educating social workers on spreading awareness of MHM to adolescent girls. Which included topics such as;
• How to speak to a young girl on menstruation without feeling embarrassed.
• The definition of menstrual cycle.
• How to treat your body during menstruation.
The training also included interactive activities, which stimulated and encouraged participants to share their opinions, feedback, and have discussions with each other.
