A 2014 USAID study cited Iraqi Ministry of Health statistics estimating that 15 percent of Iraq’s population, about 3 million people at the time, had a disability.
Now, in 2023, that number might have gotten higher. Iraq Health Access Organization, with support from The Children’s Village, still supports people with disabilities in three different, disability-friendly centers; Al – Samah, and Al – Shebkhoon in Nineveh, and Al – Wehda in Anbar. All three centers provide general health, reproductive health, physical rehabilitation, and psychosocial support services to people with disabilities.
