The United Nations’ World Health Organization defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”
Women face a lot of gender-based violence, which can leave deep psychological scars. In order to heal these wounds, it is important for women to care for their mental health. Iraq Health Access Organization, supported by @UNFPA and funded by Sweden and Norway, offers psychological support sessions at their GBV centers in Kirkuk and other governorates. These sessions can help women to work through their trauma and start to rebuild their lives.
