In recent years, art has become a powerful tool in the fight for gender equality and women’s rights. As part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, a group of women joined the GBV Mobile Team of OSAC center in cooperation with UNFPA – Iraq, funding from KOICA and the Swedish people, to visit the Institute of Fine Arts for Women, in order to learn how to express themselves through art. The women at the institute taught them sculpting, how their hands bring feelings within and turn it into shapes. This experience is a shining example of how female empowerment can be achieved through art, and how women are capable of using their skills to empower other women and using art to support each other and create positive social change.
