Advocacy against child marriage, honor crimes, and FGM

Child marriage represents a reoccurring theme in the lives of many young girls across Iraq. Being forced into marriage at a young age prevents girls from enjoying their childhood, getting proper education, and potentially putting their lives at risk in case of an adolescent pregnancy.
To advocate against child marriage and other phenomena affecting young girls such as honor crimes and FGM, IHAO, supported by UNFPA and funded by Sweden, conducted community dialogues to support prevention, response, and elimination of these harmful practices in its GBV centers & mobile teams in the governorates of Diyala, Salahdin, and Ninewa.
