The Adolescents with Disabilities Empowerment (AWD) Project started in 2022. Supported by UNFPA – Iraq, funding from Embassy of Finland in Baghdad – Suomen suurlähetystö Bagdad, and in partnership with The Iraqi Alliance of Disability (IADO). The goal of the project was trying to make sure that adolescents with disabilities have equal opportunities among their peers.
The mobile teams of each center have been working endlessly to spread awareness around the Ninawa community; they visited different neighborhoods to spread awareness about their services at the AWD centers (Al-Hadbaa – Al-Qosh – Bartla), which consists of healthcare, psychosocial support, life skill trainings, and sports activities.
