“I always hope to be strong and live happily. Today is an important day, it makes me feel like I’m really a girl and society stands with us“ said the 11-year-old Seedra when asked about her hopes and dreams for the future and her feelings on the International Day of The Girl Child.
Seedra and many girls her age, deserve a safe environment, proper healthcare, and access to education, regardless of country of origin or socioeconomic standing.
During the #International_Day_of_The_Girl_Child, and in partnership with Iraqi Children Foundation, Iraq Health Access Organization celebrated the day of the girl with adolescents girls from Al-Qawsyiat at Al-Hadbaa Youth Center, with the attendance of community police. The event included educational and recreational activities and a play the young girls practiced to perform for this special day.
The celebration was conducted to promote greater respect for young girls and women in all sectors of society and to give them a voice to be heard.
