Body Autonomy Trainings for Adolescents With Disabilities in Bartla, Al-Hadbaa, and Al-Qosh Centers

Stigmatization is familiar experience for many adolescents with disabilities, whether it comes from family, the community, or both. They may even adopt the incorrect assumptions and views of society and self-stigmatize. Negative common language frequently serves to perpetuate the stigma they endure and limits the potential to see themselves as fully formed human beings.

IHAO, in cooperation with IADO, supported by UNFPA, and funded from the Finnish Embassy, conducts body autonomy trainings for adolescents with disabilities in Bartla, Al-Hadbaa, and Al-Qosh Centers. It helps adolescents with disabilities to take control of their physical condition, and to empower their self-care. Additionally, it encourages independent decisions making, and identifying exploitation they might be exposed to because of their disability.
