Women and girls with disabilities experience a lot of discrimination, they are often marginalized and neglected. This marginalization often extends to their access to education and basic life skills learning opportunities.
As part of the efforts of the psychosocial support department, Iraq Health Access Organization, supported by UNFPA, provides literacy skills development programs for girls with disabilities, as many of those girls didn’t have the chance to get education or participate in skills-developing activities because accessibility issues.
In this program, 17 girls with disabilities have joined the literacy and life skills program and got the chance to write their names for the very first time.
