Living in fear of not being able to hear or to be heard, Eman challenged her disability and tried to make the best out of her circumstances. She learned sign language at a young age and grew her talents in art and knitting. Eman was worried at first that because of her disabilities, she wouldn’t be able to have a child, but she after a series of visits and consultations to Salih Al-Shabkhoon Centre, she was told that she was healthy and well. Eman now is happily waiting the birth of her first baby, and visits the center regularly to follow up on her condition.
Salih Al-Shabkhoon Centre provides reproductive healthcare services for women with disabilities with support from UNFPA-Iraq and funding from Canada and Australia.
