Iraq has suffered a long history of political unrest that resulted in almost 2 million people displaced inside Iraq with approximately 360000 displaced in informal settlements. \u00a0Host communities as well as IDPs and refugees across the country suffered from dramatic socio-economic challenges, disruption of support networks, demographic shifts, and political tensions. Demolition of infrastructure units and services with the decreased socio-economic living conditions have left people with many violations of basic human rights amongst which specifically is the right to life for women, the right to equal protection under the law with freedom from torture physically and mentally. Thus the issue of GBV is vital to the core values of IHAO in promoting equality within the society in access to health care, education, and empowerment of youth.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Objectives & Target <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\t

Main objectives are :\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • provision and enhance awareness of GBV services and topics in order to increase access to comprehensive GBV response services including lifesaving GBV services, psychosocial support, and livelihood support activities.<\/li>\n
  • Enhance and strengthen community-based protection of GBV and Sexual exploitation and abuse PSA through risk mitigation through strengthening capacity of frontline workers and key stakeholders offering GBV services.<\/li>\n
  • Making sure survivors and beneficiaries of the local community have access to integrated holistic and individual approach to each beneficiary through direct services offered at the GBV centers as well as proper referrals to reproductive health units, primary health centers, psychiatric services, or psychological counseling and through proper referral systems to local organizations and institutions offering various services of protection, legal services and through livelihood and income generating projects offered through IHAO projects.<\/li>\n
  • Strengthen coordination of multi sectors to improve GBV response on a national level in accordance with human rights legislations and regulations\u00a0internationally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    IHAO has been implementing GBV prevention and protection projects since 2017 starting in vulnerable post ISIS communities specifically in Ninewa, Kirkuk and Salahuddin and spreading to Sinjar, Diyala, Baaj and Babel. MHPSS projects that target women and young girls mainly are also implemented in Anbar. Total number of GBV centers run by IHAO currently are 17 centers distributed among the mentioned governorates.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div><\/section>
